When Michael Corleone was visiting Cuba during Godfather 2, he observed a rebel blow himself up and when asked what he thought it meant, replied, they can win!

The prevailing theory regarding the Islamic State (IS) or ISIL, ISIS, or Dash (same group, different acronyms) and their attacks on the West, is that ISIS is an end of days facilitator, and that in their demented and tortured minds, the battle to end all battles is about to begin.

ISIS stands for The Islamic state of Iraq and Syria

ISIL stands for the Islamic State of the Levant

Daesh is an Arabic acronym for al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham that the hacktivist group Anonymous uses because they see this group as a threat to civilization and humanity.

The world needs them to crack the IS's Dark Net.

Their insane ideology is rooted in their apocalyptic interpretation of scripture backed by the knowledge that they are doing God's work.

With this as motivation, its easy t see why they have grown so rapidly.

They offer one hell of an incentive.

Martyrdom

How did we get to this point in history?

Prior to the Ottomans, a tribal world existed with frequent clashes between the tribes.

The Ottomans ran an empire.

The Ottomans lost their lands after the first WW.

As the brutality of the first world war was bloodly on display on the battlefield, foolishness and folly filled the back rooms and   clandestine meetings between the parties.

Corrupt deals between France and England assured them of acquiring profitable colonies once the hostilities ceased

Both powers were soon forced to relinquish their winnings and Iraq and Syria became states with brutal dictators in charge

Kuwait was also created during the breakup, despite having no historical right to the land.

The area however, was the only outlet to the sea for Iraq and Saddam Hussein figured it was his anyway

Prior to Sadam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait, President George Bush, fondly referred to as 41, sent a message via US ambassador April Glaspie. The contents

"We have no opinion on your Arab-Arab conflicts, such as your dispute with Kuwait. Secretary Baker has directed me to emphasize the instruction, first given to Iraq in the 1960s, that the Kuwait issue is not associated with America."

This basically gave the green light to the invasion

It wasn't until Margret Thatcher stiffened 41 with her "don't go wobbly on us George" statement, that Bush reversed himself and changed the course of history.

Bush then drew the memorable line in the sand and told his nemesis "this will not stand:"

Bush would have saved the world the present crisis if he had just listened to himself.

Bush's initial reaction, was the correct one

The rest is just the flowing of history.

It seems the pieces are almost ready.

So as IS moves forward, with attacks on multiple cities and continents, ISIS will get stronger and become even more ruthless.

The West can't match their electricity and fervor.

They offer their followers a cause.A cause they are willing to die for

What this all means is that they can win.

No one wants to accept that possibility and unless we begin to recognize the enormity of the situation, ISIS will onlyb get stronger.

Should ISIL be allowed to continue on their stairway to heaven, and it looks like they will, the disruption and misery they will inflict on the western world will be incalculable.

The more operations they initiate, the more they will attract and radicalize the disaffected with doubters becoming believers, the more they defy the west.

The longer this madness goes on, the more moderate Muslims will begin to believe the end of days scenarios spelled out in their scriptures, and join ISIL and when that happens, there really will be a need for Crusaders.

As this Caliphate gains legitimacy and its interpretation of scripture receives greater acceptance, they will say its the duty of all Muslims to join up or be killed.

This will not be the first time this scenario has played out.

We need a Godfather type response to counter the brutality and barbarism of ISIL.

We need to nip this in the bud.

Donald Trump is not a Godfather, he is, in the immortal words of Don Vito, a pimp.

Donald fans the flame of fascism.

He is a useless and bigoted neanderthal.

He isis nothing but a self-serving clown.

Trump's a looser. Trump you're fired.

Your dimwitted solutions to problems that don't exist bespeak a mean-spirited, ego maniac

Go put up a wall!

There a reason men like Sadam and Asad were brutal dictators, they had to be.

They kept the peace.

You would have been a good leader in their shoes maybe even a great one.

What's that you say Donald?

You would have a better dictator than all of them!

No doubt.

And we should have stayed clear.

We didn't colonize the area.

Why was it our fight

That was England, France and Italy's history.

We need to look after American interests and not European.

Now as ISIS fills the vacuum and occupies more and more turf in Iraq and Syria, it has now begun to attack western cities.

We are in a new war.

The time has come for an even more brutal war than WW I

This is not the kind of war we are good at nor one we want to fight.

Donald Trump does have a point, to win this war, the families of terrorists will have to die.

For us to prevail, the rules of engagement must change.

There are no Geneva rules in Syria.

No taking prisoners.

No taking care of their wounded.

No Guantanamo.

It's Kill or be Killed.

The only other choice is too horrific to contemplate.

So long as ISIL can plot and finance operations from Syria, nowhere will it be safe.

Syria and for that matter Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf states will be embroiled in daily battles with ISIL prevailing even when it looses.

Why?

The world saw how the Kuwaiti's protected their lands when Sadam rolled through them.

The Limousine retreat.

We can't win playing by our rules.

We must become as vicious and brutal as thy are.

We must become Colonel Kurtz, William Calley and Hannibal Lecter.

We must elect Trump

This will strip humanity off its fig leaf of civility.

This will expose soldiers to unimaginable horrors.

Horrors no human should ever experience and horrors they will bring home with them when they return to their families.

The following facts regarding Ebola were obtained from the website UptoDate.com.

The material was pruned from the source in order to make it more readable to lay readers. With so much misinformation banded about, it is my hope that these facts will stem the tide of irrational fear.

The Ebola virus belongs to the Filovirus family of viruses.

As such they are among the most virulent pathogens known.

The term Filovirus is derived from the Latin word "filum", a word to indicate 'thread-like'. It was chosen because of the filamentous structure of the virus.

Ebola viruses cause severe disease and have a fatality rate of over 70 percent.

Ebola virus is named after the Ebola River that runs through Zaire and where the first virus was found.

There is no therapy available for the treatment of Ebola diseases, but progress has been made in developing a vaccine.

It was once a mystery as to the identity of the original host and the mode of transmission from that host to humans.

It now appears that Ebola viruses were first hosted by bats.

Bats are present in large numbers at the sites of several filovirus outbreaks and are known to host other pathogenic RNA viruses, such as rabies.

Fruit bats are the likely original host of the virus and the partially digested fruit that is dropped by the bats and eaten by animals is the most likely method by which iti s transmitted to humans and other primates.

Classification of Ebola Viruses

Ebola viruses are single-stranded RNA viruses that require the enzyme reverse transcriptase in order to replicate.

Ebola virus causes hemorrhagic fever whose clinical manifestation include coagulation defects, capillary leaks and septic shock.

Ebola viruses are divided into five different species; the Zaire, Sudan, Ivory Coast, Bundibugyo, and Reston agents.

They each differ in their virulence to humans.

The Zaire species has caused large outbreaks of disease with mortality rates of up to 90 percent. It was first identified in 1976

The Sudan virus has a 50 percent fatality rate based on the four known epidemics it has been involved in.

The Ivory Coast virus has only been the causative agent in one case and that person survived.

The Bundibugyo virus caused an outbreak of hemorrhagic fever in Uganda in 2007 and has a fatality rate of under 30 percent. Sequencing the genome of this virus has shown that it is closely related to the Ivory Coast virus.

The fifth Ebola species, the Reston virus, differs markedly from the others, because it has not been found in Africa but rather in the Philippines.

Ebola Reston virus caused an outbreak of lethal infection in macaques, a type of Old World monkey.

The outbreak occurred when they were imported into the United States in 1989 and brought worldwide attention to the filovirus family with the publication of Richard Preston's book, The Hot Zone.

Outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease

Filovirus first appeared in 1967 with the inadvertent importation of infected monkeys from Uganda into Germany and the former Yugoslavia. This resulted in explosive outbreaks of illness among vaccine plant workers who prepared primary cell cultures for polio vaccine production.

The workers came into direct contact with the animals by killing them and removing their kidneys.

Since then, all outbreaks of Ebola disease have occurred in sub-Saharan Africa with increasing frequency since 1990.

The 2014 Outbreak

By far, the largest outbreak of Ebola virus disease is currently occurring in West Africa with the Zaire species, the active agent.

Although most previous Ebola outbreaks occurred in Central Africa, this outbreak started in the West African nation of Guinea in Decemeber 2013 and was confirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2014.

The index patient was a two-year-old child in Guinea, who developed fever, vomiting, and black stools. Four days later, the child was dead.

The outbreak subsequently spread to Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Senegal, and Mali.

Analysis of the viruses indicated that the disease resulted from person-to-person contact and has a mortality rate of 70 percent.

The  extent of the outbreak has been underestimated due to the flood of victims of Ebola virus disease being cared for outside of hospitals, where their deaths go unreported.

As the last days of October 2014 pass, the number of probable and suspected cases attributed to Ebola virus is close to 10,000, half of which have died.

This includes almost 500 healthcare workers, of whom half have died.

On a positive note, Nigeria and Senegal have not reported any new cases since September and have been declared Ebola-free by the World Health Organization.

On September 30, 2014, Thomas Eric Duncan became the first Ebola victim in the United States.

He had traveled from Liberia to Dallas, Texas where he developed Ebola virus symptoms five days after his arrival.

The patient was asymptomatic prior to and during the flight.

Two nurses, Nina Pham and Amber Vinson, who were involved in his care subsequently developed Ebola virus disease. They were successfully treated and declared Ebola-free as October 2014 came to a close.

At about the same time, Dr. Craig Spencer returned home to New York City after a stint in Guinea with the organization, Doctors Without Borders where he treated Ebola disease patients.

The doctor set off a firestorm of controversy and a torrent of panic by his reckless behavior in violating the first rule for physicians, do no harm.

His blatant disregard for established protocols of remaining quarantined in the comfort of his home allowed politicians to do what they do best.

Involve themselves in things they have no knowledge of.

Transmission of Ebola Disease

Filoviruses are thought to initiate infection via ingestion, inhalation, or passage through mucosa and breaks in the skin.

Human infection can also result from the inadvertent transfer of virus by the patient's own contaminated hands.

Person-to-person transmission of the Ebola virus occurs through contact with virus-containing body fluids of a person who has signs and symptoms of illness.

The virus is transmitted via broken skin or unprotected mucous membranes.

The most infectious body fluids that contain the virus are the blood, feces, and vomit of an Ebola patient.

Ebola virus has also been detected in urine, semen, and breast milk while saliva, sweat and tears may also harbor the virus/

Contact with any of these fluids poses a potential risk.

Transmission in Africa is often due to the ritual of washing Ebola victims at funerals and touching them as they prepare the body for burial.

Healthcare workers are at risk of infection if they care for a patient with Ebola virus disease without appropriate protective measures.

Ebola virus may also be transmitted though contact with previously contaminated surfaces and objects.

Ebola virus is thought to exist for up to several days on surfaces but its potential risk can be reduced by proper cleaning.

Ebola virus disease is rarely, if ever, spread from person to person through the respiratory route.

Although aerosolized filoviruses are highly infectious for laboratory animals, in humans, airborne transmission has only been reported among healthcare workers who were exposed to aerosols generated during medical procedures.

)
Prior to the epidemic in West Africa, outbreaks of Ebola virus disease were typically contained within a period of weeks to a few months.

This was generally attributed to the relatively inefficient person-to-person transmission of the virus in areas of the African rainforest where population density was low and residents rarely traveled far from home.

This epidemic however, has shown that Ebola virus disease can spread rapidly and widely due to the extensive movement of infected individuals. This is especially true for the undetected who travel across national borders and those who avoid isolation and quarantine.

Infection with Ebola virus occurs through contact with animals via the hunting, butchering, or preparing meat from infected ones. To prevent this type of infection, food should be properly cooked since the Ebola virus is inactivated through cooking.

Transmission of Ebola virus to healthcare workers occurs when appropriate personal protective equipment is not available or not properly used. In fact, during the outbreak in West Africa, a large number of healthcare workers developed Ebola virus disease, due  to a lack of personal protective equipment and exposure to patients who had Ebola virus disease.

'These are known as nosocomial transmissions and indicates that it is the patients who transmitted the Ebola virus to the healthcare workers who cared for them.

It shoulod be pointed out that Ebola viruses are not carried by mosquitoes or other biting insects.

Pathogenesis of Ebola Disease

Ebola virus enters the body through mucous membranes or breaks in the skin.

The virus infects almost every cell type in the body. The list includes monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, hepatocytes, adrenal cortical cells, and epithelial cells.

Whatever port of entry the virus uses to enter the body, macrophages are probably the first cells to be infected.

The virus replicates within these "sentinel" cells and causes death to the cells and the release of a large numbers of new viral particles.  The virus then spreads to regional lymph nodes and undergoes another round of replication. This is followed by virus infection of dendritic cells and macrophages located in the liver, spleen, thymus, and other lymphoid tissues.

Rapid spread is aided by virus-induced suppression of type I interferon response. As the disease progresses, hepatocytes, adrenal cortical cells, fibroblasts, and many other cell types become infected. This results in extensive tissue damage

In addition to causing extensive tissue damage, filoviruses also induce a systemic inflammatory syndrome by inducing the release of cytokines, chemokines, and other pro-inflammatory mediators from the infected macrophages.

Macrophages infected with Ebola Zaire virus produce tumor necrosis factor,  interleukin, and macrophage chemotactic protein. It is thus the host response to infection, rather than the toxic effect of the virus, that is responsible for the fever, malaise, vasodilatation, increased vascular permeability, hypotension, and shock associated with Ebola disease.

Virus-infected macrophages synthesize cell-surface tissue factor  which triggers the coagulation defects that occur in Ebola disease. In addition, the pro-inflammatory cytokines also induce macrophages to produce the same tissue factor. This simultaneous occurrence explains the early appearance and rapid development of the coagulopathy of Ebola virus infection.

Clinical Manifestations of Ebola Disease

Over the 40 years since Ebola virus was first discovered, a number of clinical features of Ebola virus disease have been documented. One in particular seemed odd. Despite its name, Ebola hemorrhagic fever, bleeding is not common and is typically only seen in the terminal phase of the disease.

In the present West Africa epidemic, the term Ebola virus disease is used instead of Ebola hemorrhagic fever.

Patients with Ebola virus disease typically have an abrupt onset of symptoms anywhere from 8 to 12 days after exposure although the range of 2-21 is often sited.

There is no evidence that asymptomatic persons, while the virus is still in the incubation period, are infectious.

Symptomatic individuals are  assumed to have high levels of virus in their blood and other body fluids and so all safety precautions need be taken.

Signs and Symptoms of Ebola Virus Disease

Ebola disease patients begin with influenza-like symptoms, which then rapidly progresses to full-blown organ failure and septic shock.

The most common symptoms reported from West Africa during the 2014 outbreak are fever, fatigue, vomiting and diarrhea.

There is usually an abrupt onset of fever, chills, and malaise. Other signs include weakness, anorexia, and severe headaches. Some even develop a rash by the fifth day f of illness. The rash usually involves the face, neck, and arms.

Watery diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain are frequently found within a few days of infection. This despite the warning that the infection can take up to 21 days.

Bleeding does not often occur in the early phase of illness but manifests itself later in the disease with frank hemorrhaging seen only in the terminal phase of ithe disease.

In non-fatal cases, patients improve approximately 6 days after the onset of symptoms.

Death typically occurs between a week or two after symptoms first appear.

The Ebola epidemic is with us now.

The failure to contain the Ebola outbreak in Africa has condemned the world to an epidemic and created a panicked desperation to contain it.

It has also revealed how incompetent the US healthcare system is in managing such an infectious agent.

Maybe now that its become a recognized danger, perhaps the world will get its house in order.

Medical teams are needed to fight this disease everywhere on the planet.

The first patient arrived in the US in late September. In October, a doctor brought it into New York City.

Infected people create infected areas when they are not managed properly. They turn previously safe-quarters into 'death zones'

Its just a matter or time now before it becomes a tool for terrorists.

Ebola will paralyze the US healthcare system and cause an epidemic of fear.

A significant number of stand alone Quarantine stations need to be built now.

This, in anticipation of a deluge of patients that we hope never comes.

These walk in clinics would serve as a place for free screenings and possible detention, bypassing the hospital system entirely.

Allowing stand-alone facilities to be responsible for both diagnosis and quarantine would allow more beds to be available at far less cost.

The problem is going to be in the staffing of these facilities.

They can't possibly pay the going rates for all the professional required nor have enough of them to cover the country.

These stations need to be well-funded, empowered to act and mobile.

Ebola is already a catastrophe in West Africa and threatens the rest of the continent

.

The world is about to confront real evil.

America is unprepared for an outbreak and we never can be.

The system for containing the virus is quarantine.

This requires an enormous amount of resources and courage on the part of the medical teams.

More cases requires more resources. Resources that will already be taxed by other evils.

The best hope of containing the virus was in Africa.

It is probably too late for that now, we have only ourselves to blame.

Recommendations and warnings were voiced by health organizations.

EbolaVirus.

As the number of infected swell some will leave to die or get treated in other countries.

Its just a matter of time before clusters appear.

As flu season approaches, it will not be surprising if some patients turn up positive for ebola.

Ebola or Ebola hemorrhagic fever are diseases caused by an ebolavirus.

There are a library of Ebola viruses, five that we know of.

Ebola's name comes from the Ebola River, a tributary in the Democratic Republic of Congo where the disease first appeared in the early 70s.

This particular strain is known as Ebola Zaire

Symptoms can appear up to three weeks after contracting the virus but typically appear in the first week.

These symptoms are fever, diarrhea, vomiting, sore throat, muscle pain, and headaches.

Decreased liver function also occurs.

Infected people are contagious only when they have symptoms, especially when they bleed and vomit.

It is contact with these fluids that allows the transmission of the virus.

The disease is well managed in a hospital where quarantine conditions can be maintained.

When they can not be managed, they will infect indiscriminately .

Blood and ebola virus equals death.

Fortunately for the world, the Ebola virus does not spread thru the air.

Of course it could mutate and become an even bigger threat.

The origin of the virus is speculative.

They believe bats were the first carriers of the virus. How the virus evolved is not known.

Bats often feed off the fruit in trees.

And so, as the bats fly, they drop partially digested fruit and pulp on the ground.

It appears that the mammals who ate this debris become ill.

The fallen fruit contains the virus that the bat hosted.

Fruit bats spread the virus without being sick themselves.

Human infection is spread by person to person contact via body fluids.

Infections occur in clusters and takes anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to cause symptoms.

The virus damages the immune system and internal organs,

Once blood-clotting fails the infected experience severe, uncontrollable bleeding, which makes them very contagious.

Ebolavirus or Ebola Zaire is the most dangerous of the known Ebola disease-causing viruses

The virus is acquired through contact with blood or bodily fluids of infected people.

The likely way this epidemic will end is through the mutation of this virus into one that doesn't cause disease but occupies the same receptor that the disease causing Ebola uses thereby blocking its binding site.

This is probably how, the Asian flu epidemic of 1917 that killed 17 million people, ended.

The first patient arrived in the US in late September and it shouldn't be too long before more arrive. He has already infected at least two healthcare workers who treated.

The patient was handled in the most inefficient and unprepared way imaginable.

The hospital, Texas Presbyterian Health, did not know or follow the protocols established by the Centers for Disease Control.

Had they done, what the CDC assured the public all hospitals could, the indexed patient would be the end of it for now.

They got lucky in even knowing about him and yet he still started the first cluster.

Should this pattern continue, there will be a deluge of patients at hospital doors.

Oreo is a sandwich cookie consisting of two chocolate disks with a sweet cream filling in between. The version currently sold in the United States is made by the Nabisco division of Mondelēz International.

Oreo is the best selling cookie in the United States and has been ever since it was introduction in 1912.

In a study designed to shed light on the potential addictiveness of high-fat/ high-sugar foods, Professor Joseph Schroeder and his students found rats formed an equally strong association between the pleasurable effects of eating Oreos and a specific environment as they did between cocaine or morphine and a specific environment.

They also found that eating cookies activated more neurons in the brain’s “pleasure center” than exposure to drugs of abuse.

“Our research supports the theory that high-fat/ high-sugar foods stimulate the brain in the same way that drugs do,” Schroeder said. “It may explain why some people can’t resist these foods despite the fact that they know they are bad for them.”

The research was the brainchild of neuroscience major Jamie Honohan ’13. A scholar in the College’s Holleran Center for Community Action and Public Policy, Honohan was interested in how the prevalence of high-fat and high-sugar foods in low-income neighborhoods contributed to the obesity epidemic.

“My research interests stemmed from a curiosity for studying human behavior and our motivations when it comes to food,” said Honohan. “We chose Oreos not only because they are America’s favorite cookie, and highly palatable to rats, but also because products containing high amounts of fat and sugar are heavily marketed in communities with lower socioeconomic statuses.”

To test the addictiveness of Oreos, Honohan and a co-researcher, Becca Markson ’13, worked with Schroeder and two other students, Science Leader Gabriela Lopez ’15 and Katrina Bantis ’15, last year to measure the association between “drug” and environment.

On one side of a maze, they would give hungry rats Oreos and on the other, they would give them a control – in this case, rice cakes. (“Just like humans, rats don’t seem to get much pleasure out of eating them,” Schroeder said.) Then, they would give the rats the option of spending time on either side of the maze and measure how long they would spend on the side where they were typically fed Oreos.

While it may not be scientifically relevant, Honohan said it was surprising to watch the rats eat the famous cookie. “They would
break it open and eat the middle first,” she said.

They compared the results of the Oreo and rice cake test with results from rats that were given an injection of cocaine or morphine, known addictive substances, on one side of the maze and a shot of saline on the other. Professor Schroeder is licensed by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to purchase and use controlled substances for research.

The research showed the rats conditioned with Oreos spent as much time on the “drug” side of the maze as the rats conditioned with cocaine or morphine.

Neuroscience major and Science Leader Lauren Cameron ’14 was awarded a Keck Grant, which provides summer research stipends in the sciences to qualified students, to work with Schroeder to continue the research over the summer. They used immunohistochemistry to measure the expression of a protein called c-Fos, a marker of neuronal activation, in the nucleus accumbens, or the brain’s “pleasure center.”

“It basically tells us how many cells were turned on in a specific region of the brain in response to the drugs or Oreos,” said Schroeder.

They found that the Oreos activated significantly more neurons than cocaine or morphine.

“This correlated well with our behavioral results and lends support to the hypothesis that high-fat/ high-sugar foods are addictive,” said Schroeder.

And that is a problem for the general public, says Honohan.

America cannot continue to treat the unhealthy adults and exploding number of unhealthy children indefinitely.

It is clear that changes will be imposed.

I don't have a problem with people who insist on living an unhealthy lives.

If they want to die at an early age, that's their buisness and I'm OK with it.

Their life, their choice.

But I have a huge problem with instead of them dying, they are kept alive for an additional forty years and soaking up expensive medical treatment.

That's unfair and unjust.

Treatment should be linked to personal behavior.

The price for medical coverage should be daily exercise and healthy food.

Individuals need to take care of their health in order to receive care.

The sooner we arrive at a population of healthy people, the sooner this nation can go back to being the great nation it once was.

Not before, for we have abandoned the most sacred of Americabn principals, good health.

Money should not be the currency insurance coverage is paid for with.

Those who insist on living the life of illness must be allowed to depopulate and restore order to the healthcare system.

They most certainly should not be rewarded with life extension.

Draconian perhaps but the only way too reign in reckless behavior.

.

It is not simply enough to revamp, re-prioritize and restructure our nation’s healthcare system.

We need healthier and more active people.

And the only way to achieve that is by punishing the makers of illness and rewarding behavior that prevents them.

This must be our country’s priority. Only by preventing disease can America ever get back on track and be worthy of its once lofty goal.

When causing illness is no longer a profitable business, and only when that occurs, will prevention of disease ever be possible.

As more Americans grow unhealthier, more resources will be needed to manage their illnesses.

From an economic point of view, this is fiscal disaster.

These are America’s least productive citizens who have been empowered to demand every procedure, drug or treatment that can extend their life. Never mind the quality of that life.

This is a challenge we as a country are unequipped to deal with.  The only real solution is to prevent their illnesses from developing in the first place and that begins during childhood and never stops.

All to often, childhood is fine but adultworld is the problem. Working is ruinous to health.

Well the workplace is about to be swollen with ill children, all grown into adulthood. This is going to be ruinous to businesses.

Between the power of persuasive programming and the biology of addiction, children have been transformed from active, wide-eyed, exuberant kids into a molding mass of rotting, immobile flesh, incapable of understanding what is happening to them and unable to breaks the bonds of familiarity.
By permitting an onslaught of appealing, seductive and destructive messages to reach our kid’s minds and in allowing addictive chemicals to be embedded into their food and beverages, we have helped sowed the seeds of a compulsive need to eat and an aversion to move. By failing to ensure children’s health, we will be leaving this world a worse place then when we arrived.

We as a people should be indicted for the crime we have committed.

The financial meltdown of 2008 was caused by insatiable greed and the slew of speculators, swindlers and sham artists that populate financial services.

These professionals gamed the system for corporate and personal profits, knowing they would never be held accountable.

They applied the power of business and leveraged other people's money to enrich themselves.

They never considered repercussions.

Their total disregard for consequences and lack of personal risk helped precipitate the meltdown, an attitude that is rampant today and is fermenting the present crisis in health care.

The men and women responsible for our accelerated decay are the leaders of business and the product of our nation’s business and law schools. They were taught to embrace the power of money and the refuge provided by the laws governing corporations.

What a farce!

They were exposed to the philosophy of greed and seduced by the power it brought. They have brought this nation to its knees. They have started an epidemic of obesity, heart disease and diabetes, the likes of which we have never seen.

An epidemic of widespread misery, blamed on victims and not the instigators.

Business, the great American occupation. Bottom line above all else.

I write this because I am tired of all the genuflecting at the altar of business and its amen corner in congress.

Businesses must be held accountable for the poisoning of children and the illnesses that flow from the inactivity and sedentary life they demand.

The same the kind of exuberance that defined the financial crisis fills the food, entertainment, pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

Profits before patients. Poisons before health.

This widespread and diverse group of interests share a common goal; creating or treating unhealthy people.

Collectively. they have used their talents, expertise and position to unleash an epidemic of illnesses on Americans.

They are the businesses that fuel unhealthy behavior. They are responsible for igniting a cultural plague.

A plague that threatens the very foundation of our nation, its children.

A plague further ignited by the companies that manufacture and provide the treatments needed to combat those illnesses.

They are the lawyers, lobbyists and consultants who help the aforementioned professionals. They elect politicians who then bemoan the cost of care and want cuts in entitlements.

The enemy is we!

This homegrown epidemic is responsible for the explosion of obesity, heart disease and diabetes.

Other plagues, due to infectious agents, could be treated. This one, requires a revolution.

This one was started, spread and driven by the wolves of Wall Street and their quest for perpetual profits.

Corporate-America has transformed the lives of hundreds of millions of Americans and in the process earned countless billions of dollars in profit.

American children  as targets.

Their psyches were subjugated and enslaved by the most sophisticated tools of coercion ever devised, repetitive messaging.

The purpose of targeting children, as difficult as it is to believe, is to make as many of them unhealthy as possible.

The business plan that was followed for the nation evolved from this blueprint.  Consistent, continual and excessive consumption.

As added incentive, the ability to afford and thereby consume these products became synonymous with success.

Bigger home, bigger car, bigger belly.

Build it and they will buy.

This is the lifestyle of choice. A life that minimizes activity, movement and exercise, and overemphasizes consumption.

It's an early death sentence but a long life due to the treatments available.

This sedentary behavior ensured generations of consumers for an endless series of products. Toys and technologies, sandwiches and snacks. Products made both at home and overseas by America's business. How can they be restrained from funding the behavior modification activities that makes kids ill.

Consumers of their products become future patients for the healthcare machine.

What a convenient synergy.

This conspiracy of consumption has planted time bombs in children. It is Corporate-America's unhealthy foods and lack of activity that has led to the startling rise in obesity, heart disease and diabetes.

These are chronic nutritional illnesses that represent the body’s rejection of a life filled with overeating and inactivity.

Children didn’t choose to be this way. Their behavior was guided, directed and promoted by those wizards of business who programmed their minds to view unhealthy food as agents of pleasure.

A behavior that ultimately results in an insatiable appetite for drugs and a never ending need for medical treatment.

By instilling a need for constant gratification or consumption, Corporate-America has established the unhealthy habits that have imprisoned children for life.

They are stuck inside of bodies that don’t move and can’t metabolize the poor food they have eaten.

It should come as no surprise that those entrusted to prevent this poisoning are among the biggest beneficiaries of disease.

The healthcare bureaucracy thrives on suffering. Government regulations do nothing for the millions imprisoned in their ill bodies.

Together they have flamed the fires of this epidemic.

When it came to prepare for a pandemic of H1N1(swine flu), the NIH, the FDA, and the DHHS, responded magnificently.

But when it comes to fighting this self-inflicted, cultural pandemic, these agencies have drawn blanks.

They can't bite the hand that feeds them.

We have become a society dedicated to creating wealth through the destruction of health.

The essence of what I call a cultural plague, are the nutritional diseases of obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

To appreciate the insidious nature of this pandemic it is necessary to understand the myriad of symptoms associated with those illnesses and how widespread they have become.

Weight gain, fatigue, high blood pressure, unhealthy cholesterol profile, insulin resistance, arthritis, immunosensinity, allergies, muscle atrophy, even cancer are linked to nutritional diseases. These are the symptoms that hundreds of millions of Americans are now experiencing.

And all of these diseases result from the combination of unhealthy foods and inactivity. Well not all, genes have a say.

No individual is immune to them, yet all of them can be prevented. They can affect anyone who lives a sedentary lifestyle but can be avoided with a colorful diet and movement.

Life is hard enough when healthy, disease makes life much harder. While disease causes unhappiness and misery to the individual, it is the treatment of their symptoms that is the threat to our nation.

Continuing along the present path of overconsumption, inactivity and overtreatment, will ultimately prove to be too expensive.   Demands for a draconian correction will ensue and then all bets are off.

Healthcare costs, especially those associated with chronic illnesses, are destroying the fiscal health of this nation while our government searches for a better way to pay for them. This is three card Monty on a national scale. Keep your eye on the red!

This is no solution.  We need a government committed to improving health; not one focused on paying for the management of disease.

Americans needs to move again.

MRSA

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus is the bacterium responsible for several difficult-to-treat infections. Frome Wiki

MRSA is any strain of Staphylococcus aureus that has developed, through the process of natural selection, resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics, which include the penicillins (methicillin, dicloxacillin, nafcillin, oxacillin, etc.) and the cephalosporins.

MRSA infections are more difficult to treat and thus more dangerous.

MRSA is especially troublesome in hospitals, prisons and nursing homes. Places where patients with open wounds, invasive devices, and weakened immune systems are at greater risk of infection than the general public.

While I have no doubt we will make it through the present debt situation, our long-term future remains bleak.

I fear that one possible scenario centers on a takeover.

If a President suspends the Constitution to make the changes they were elected for, is that a bad thing?

I ask that because that may be the only way to restore solvency.

He or she will be without a check or a balance. Alone, with all the power.

The dysfunction among groups makes governing impossible. This act restores confidence in world markets.  It is well received. It was a necessary evil.

Is that where these clowns want to take us?

The world has changed.

I remember reading It Can't Happen Here, by Sinclair Lewis when I was in high school.

In it, a senator elected on false promises, goes on to assume complete power.

He is backed by the military and is earily. reminiscent of Adolf Hitler and the rise of the Nazis.

I didn't think it would ever happen here.

America was a different country back then.

I though we would never give up our ideals.

Too many checks and balances for any one man to overcome.

I grew up in the sixties, a time of great hopes and dreams.

There was excitement in the air.

Vietnam, civil rights, drugs and rock n roll.

Improve the world!

Wow, what a cool idea.

Oh God, did we screw up!

Now, it might need to happen here in order to alter the behavior that got us here.

No, we dont need to deport the undocs just keep them healthy.

We need a benevolent dictator to fix the mess we are in.

The group of clowns occupying the houses of government have no chance of agreeing on anything.

And we need to get thing done soon.

Someone must change the course this nation is on.

I'm not talking about the war on terror or building a wall.

I have seen the enemy and it is us. It is the unending need or more.

We need to be on a war footing.

We need to defeat the domestic terrorists that have taken over our lives.

This is the world we made.

We own it.

A world where overweight children are the norm and obesity, a part of too many lives.

The fact that we now need their credit card to pay for our healthcare care makes it even more horrific.

We turned Regan's shinning city on a hill into a third-world brothel.

Walk in any city, sit in any school.

You will see it.

It is sad.

Sometimes you get a glimpse of how good it could be.

Kids playing soccer, working out, fit.

Exceptional talents and strong enough to withstand the forces of illness..

But most often, what you see, offends.

I know it wasn't like this forty years ago.

What the hell have we done?

Americans were blessed with freedom of choice and increased leisure time.

As this was exploited, it was used to help children become fat.

They were seduced by television, boredom and addictive food.

They were told where and when to eat.

What games to play or car to by.

For want of a better word, they seduced a nation through the power and force of addiction.

There is something unfair about making people ill.

It should be a crime.

It wouldn't disturb me in the least if the businesses that have made so much money off making people ill, had to pay for their care.

Call it the sick tax.

The list starts at the top with AgriBusinesses and Technologies.

Add in their minions in the marketing and advertising industries, the lawyers and lobbyists, and don't forget the pharmaceutical and insurance conglomerates.

Our government encouraged entrepreneurs to mine the data in our children's minds.

They set up shop everywhere childrewn went.

It was the Wild West for them.

The government allowed these companies to hide behind the corporate veil of no responsibility to addict children to unhealthy foods and practices.

These companies are guilty of using addictive marketing techniques to undermine the natural healthy values they were born with.

Our children didn't want to be this way, we made them that way.

Now, unless I am wrong, we are in a whole lot more trouble than anyone suspects.

And we are doing nothing about it!

We are drowning in debt.

But it is the ill health of our people that truly frightens me.

It is easy to point to the economic realities of caring for illness as the driving force behind reform but for me, their illnesses cause misery.

That the ill persevere and push on is a testament to the will to live.

Procedures are unlimited but resources are.

The world that's to come will see people die early when they fail to take care of themselves.

So to prevent that kind of draconian practice and avoid death panels, people scoopers and bankruptcy, we need to improve people's health now.

Maybe, if we can make it say fifty more years, we can once again become that bright shinning city on a hill.
